I have been a patient at the HRT clinic for many years now and I am overall very happy with the care I have received from the team there however I have recently been left disappointed by the lack of communication surrounding my prescription.
My usual HRT has been undergoing a manufacturing error which I was not aware of until I went to refill my prescription. I then phoned the clinic and was told that they knew all about this and had already begun prescribing alternatives. The receptionist was so lovely and very helpful, they had to double check what the process for this was and phoned me back promptly.
I was told that they would post me an information leaflet about the alternative drug to take to my GP surgery to have it prescribed.
I waited a week for it to be posted and when it had not arrived decided to phone my GP surgery as I was beginning to experience symptoms such as fatigue and hot flushes. I was then told by the GP that the prescription had already been completed and had been waiting to be collected in my usual pharmacy for a week.
I'm happy to now be back on HRT but I feel that the communication between myself and the HRT team could have been much better. I would like to have been made aware of the lack of supply of my HRT well before I was running out of my own supply so I could plan ahead, the clinic could have posted a notice out as soon as they knew about it. Also it was not made clear who was going to contact my GP as I was under the impression it was my responsibility to organize the new prescription.
