I am writing with regard to our visit to the Queen Elizabeth hospital yesterday evening at about 530pm. I had previously taken my mother to Stobhill hospital where myself and my mother were made to feel very unwelcome by the person on reception.
My mother of 94 years had fallen and I had to take her to the minor injuries unit. Following the very upsetting time at Stobhill and she was in so much pain, we journeyed to the QEUH. From the moment we arrived the charge nurse showed compassion and empathy and reassured my mother and myself that she would attend to us.
My mother was so affected by the kindness that she began to cry.
The radiographers and all the staff in the receiving A&E were outstanding.
We were seen by a doctor Steven and the concern and attention from him was so reassuring and appreciated in such a traumatic situation that my mum had experienced. He went out of his way to ensure that she was receiving the appropriate treatment and follow up.
Throughout the time in QEUH from arrival to leaving, my mother was treated with skill, kindness and compassion. I am truly grateful to this hospital for attending to mum and I am forever grateful.
My mum had to attend this hospital in December following a fall and hip fracture and she experienced the same treatment and support.
I work in public sector and deal with the public all the time. I recognise the critical importance of values of compassion, respect and empathy and I can honestly say that our experience of QEUH demonstrates these values and are to be commended in the consistent approach to supporting those in need and difficult circumstances.
Thank you very kindly and with much appreciation,
"Mother's treatment"
