"Why give impossible advice NNE CCG?"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / Gedling Local Mental Health Team (LMHT) GPs in Nottingham North and East

(as a service user),

I have professional experience of patient-centred care. Whilst PhD and former professor of patient preferences, (not medical doctor).   So when I am a patient I truly appreciate the hugely intensive work that an already over-worked GP had to do to -get up to speed on a heart/mental health patient who lived abroad for 6 years and wasn’t followed up properly by institutions in the UK and abroad-when I came back, burnt out. Hats off to them. It’s all the clearer when in my opinion practically nobody else in NNE CCG has helped – indeed has done what could be regarded as the opposite.

I’m treated with distrust by many medics because of being a whistle-blower in a difficult situation.

My mental health medication will not be prescribed anymore by the CCG, necessitating two busses to the CMHT to obtain it monthly. Effectively a weekday is ruled out. And it’s not predictable WHICH weekday. Making a mockery of the treatment plan of getting back into employment that the GPs and specialists want me to follow. You say you’ve done all you can to help. Fine. Now I must do “x, y z”. However, you enact policies that make “x, y, z” IMPOSSIBLE. Then express displeasure I’m not doing enough to “fulfil my side”. BTW I’m also caring for a sick mum alongside my own health issues and no weight is given to this.

I know what it’s like to do insane hours with insane workload from my professional life.  Having an evening social life was something others did. It contributed to my heart condition and mental health issues. However, I really believed that my projects to help measure and maximise the well-being of older people, carers and children was more important. What a shame NNE CCG really doesn’t seem keen to do some little favours in return for the huge investment I made in MY health, money and time to help them be able to help others more easily.
