"A pain in my ear"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

I have a pain in my ear and was told I have a booking. I have now ask about my booking as I have been in pain for over 4 weeks.   I now have  been told I have no booking so all what I had been told had been done by was not accurate so now have to start all over again with my own doctor.   I have worked all my life and when I need help for the pain I am in all they do is give you pain killers but not check you over as to your problem. I had a hearing test and yes they said to have a hearing aid. yes just a quick fix but not what maybe required to sort the pain and hearing problem. so what do I think of the service at this moment very poor  . lets see what they do next

Thank you for your reply.

I had an accident earlier this year and was airlifted to Plymouth. I then got transferred to Musgrove park Taunton to my local hospital I had a scan done in my last days before going to Dene Barton.

I then had a blocked right ear this got sorted at Musgrove after some extra talks to staff as to the pain I really was in. Then came the problem I still have the pain got very painful in my ear and gave me head pain above my right eye. I was told I have an emergency appointment in Musgrove but am still in the same pain and not been seen or most important a scan to see what the problem is and not be looking at an old scan that I did not have a problem when it was done.

I have always been trained if you don’t sort a small problem it becomes a big problem and if I don’t even get looked at shortly could end up with no hearing in my right ear. I have had ringing for over 4 weeks in my right ear. I tried going to A/E recently but did this help? Just take more painkillers as I feel that’s the easy fix to get you removed.

The first thing is a scan and look to see the problem start to do what’s required to find the problem not just give pain killers. For all I have paid for working all my life and this is the service I have got yes can someone please help sort this out.
