"Care and compassion"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Intensive care unit

(as a relative),

My husband was persuaded to see a GP to have blood tests after six months of nagging from me. Upshot was he was admitted to Acute Assessment where ERCP was performed. He was then in need of intravenous food, drains, oxygen and was moved to ICU.   As this was all in April and May visiting was restricted, rightly so. His treatment until his death in May was considerate, kind and professional.   The day before he died I had a TIA.     ICU staff organised and whisked me to Emergency Scan and a ward for assessment and treatment. My daughter was well cared for as she sat with her dad;   I was well cared for. We cannot thank the Drs, nurses, technicians enough for the care and compassion we received.   Thank you all so much.

Thankyou for your kind comments. We were so happy that we could support you, your husband and daughter at such a difficult time. Visiting has certainly been different over the last year and a half with COVID but we have always tried hard to support visitors where we can especially at end of life. I hope that you have made a full recovery and please let me pass on my condolences in regard to your husband.

I will pass on your comments to the rest of the team.

Dear VampireFriend

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family following the sad loss of your husband. Thank you for taking time to give us this very kind feedback. We endeavour to support families at all times, this must have been a very difficult and frightening experience for both you and your daughter when you yourself became unwell. I do sincerely hope you are feeling much better within yourself and have fully recovered from your TIA.

I will ensure and share your very kind feedback with the team.

Yours sincerely

Donna Clark

Operational Manager
