"Maternity Care"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Community Midwifery Unit

(as a service user),

I usually can’t fault the team at PRI but recently I have unfortunately been left very unimpressed by the care I have received. My pregnancy is high risk and requires close monitoring, something the would be much easier if I had any consistent care. Nobody seems to understand my pregnancy and what needs to happen yet haven’t listened when I’ve tried to explain. Today I have been made to feel like a complete nuisance for visiting the ward with reduced movements and cramping. That my worries were blown over and I was just seen as an over anxious mum. A few risk factors came up but were never followed through with and I have now been left to sit at home and wonder if everything truly is okay or not. Incidents like this is what causes mothers to feel like they’re just wasting midwifes time and in turn do not go and get seen when something is wrong.

Good afternoon

I am very sorry to hear about your experience whilst receiving care within the Perth Midwifery Unit. We always want women to feel reassured and confident in the care and advice they receive from our team.

If possible, could you please contact Stephanie Gardiner (Senior Charge Midwife) on 01738 473425 to discuss further.

I look forward to speaking with you
