"Visiting Information Could Be Improved"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Stroke Unit

(as the patient),

Today is the first day visiting my family member who has been in 5 weeks due to a mix up regarding the rules around visiting -I think this could be improved. The staff have been very nice and very helpful. It has been frustrating as it has been hard to get in contact with the ward which is understandable due to the ward being so busy.

Good morning

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute due to Covid 19 due to the restrictions on visiting.

I am not sure if you are aware but we have introduced a Virtual Visiting Service within the Trust. This new service has been established to try to support families and patients during this time and enables families to stay connected.

I attach below details on how your family/friends can book a visit. Once a virtual visit has been booked our Virtual Visiting Officer will then goes along to each patient and set up the call with the virtual visitor using the Trust's iPads. These virtual visits can be with families or friends. Image title

Please feel free to give our Virtual Visiting Schedulers a call to discuss further 07776516419.

Kind regards

Mairead Casey

Good morning falconyt44,

I'm sorry to hear that your family member has been poorly, hopefully they are improving.

It is great to hear that the staff have been nice and helpful.

I'm sure it has been difficult for you and your family as you have not been able to visit, I'm sorry for any mix-up with regard to the visiting rules. Trying to ring through to the ward can be frustrating and thank you for your understanding in this.

If you would like to discuss anything further please do not hesitate in getting in contact with me via email:

Take care,

James
