"Stroke recovery journey and Amazing support"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Community Stroke Team – South Notts

(as a service user),

I had a stroke 11 months ago at work a real shock to all, a bleed on the brain caused by an AVM . The community stroke team arrived on day 4 after my release from hospital ,slurred speech,  no use or feeling in my left arm or hand left side weakness, what an amazing team  Michelle the OT her help, advice, knowledge and support have been amazing, Ian the sensory physio his magic hands and daily chats such a good guy and Clare the physio with her daily exercises and routines all a real tonic and a massive help with my recovery, all brilliant people who care and support when you are struggling to comprehend what has happened and is happening to you ,the team gives you belief and hope while trying to cope with the affects of the stroke and  in the current Covid-19 risk all behind masks and visors.

My progress has been incredible with there help and support, I have full use of my arm and hand, my speed and processing has improved. I am back at work on a phased return after 9 months with the help and support from Michelle who has always had my back, I am waiting for gamma knife radiotherapy to treat my AVM in the future. Without the help of Michelle, Ian and Clare, I don't think I would be where I am today, Thank you so much for everything !

you are Amazing, what a team .

THANK YOU

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback on your experience with the Community Stroke Team.

I am really pleased that you have found the service helpful and supportive in your recovery. It is really important to us that we hear from patients/carers/family to inform us of how we are doing, in order to shape the delivery of services to provide the best care possible.

Thank you for your kind words about the team. I will be sure to feedback to Michelle, Ian and Clare who will be thrilled by your positive feedback.

It is great to hear that you have made such good progress following our intervention and that you have been able to return to work.

Reading this feedback has made me so proud of the services we deliver and the staff working within the team. Thank you for your kindness and please accept my best wishes for your future health.

Thank you so much.

Claire Lee
