"Review appointment after stay in hospital"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Direct Ambulatory Unit Daisy Hill Hospital / Rapid Access Clinic

(as a carer),

My mum had a short stay in hospital, where she had investigations and treatment for low sodium levels (hyponatremia), and was invited to attend at OPAU (Older Persons Assessment Unit) / RAC (Rapid Access Clinic) in Daisy Hill Hospital.

We were taken on time, nurse checked BP, pulse etc. Doctor came and discussed mum's case with us, addressing her directly, treating her as an equal, which is very important to mum. She had to have blood tests repeated which Dr attended to and took time to talk to mum about her worries etc.

Personally I feel reassured this facility is there for me ,as a carer helping me care for my mother with dignity and gentleness.

Both mum and I were very satisfied and felt she was throughly treated.

Hello Feb22,

Thankyou for your lovely feedback.

The OPAU/RAC facility is a great resource for patients to access an assessment and further avoid hospital admission if possible.

I am so delighted you had a very positive experience there. They are a great team.

Many thanks,

Yvonne
