"Carer Perspective with a loved one in a residential home"

About: Roxborough House

(as a carer),

During the past 18/19 months my mum has been a long time resident at Roxborough House in The Moy.  I am just writing to express my appreciation of the staff especially during this time of the covid pandemic.  It has not been easy for me with all the various restrictions and I am sure it has been the same for the staff as well.  I wish to thank the 2 Heads of Roxborough House that have been involved during this period, namely Mrs Lucia and Ms Claire.

I feel I have been through a lot with all the various restrictions and at times it has been very difficult for my loved one to know why I could not go visit her.

The staff from the Head of Roxborough, down through all the grades have been especially kind to me when I have wanted to know anything about my mum and her general health and wellbeing during this time of covid pandemic.

I have been kept well informed by Claire of all the changes recently and this is important as I am my mum's advocate because she has MH issues.

My mum is now in her 80s and has been well looked after over the time she has been a resident at Roxborough House.  She calls it her home and recent improvements carried outside have made Roxborough even more homely for her and the other residents.

I would just like to add that the staff have been very accommodating when I call to speak to my mum on the telephone.  She loves to speak to me and cannot deal with change like virtual visiting because of her age and MH issues.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and feelings with us. We recognise that restrictions are difficult for families and residents at the minute due to Covid 19.

I would like to thank you for your lovely words in regards to the changes we have made to the home to try and improve resident experiences.

I am glad you have felt that the communications from staff in regards to updates about your mother was satisfactory and we do try to ensure families are kept updated where we can.

I will share this story with staff.

Many Thanks again for your kind words.
