"Ridiculed "

About: Tameside General Hospital

I attended A&E yesterday, the drs and nurses were amazing. I was an inpatient a few weeks ago when I got diagnosed with a heart condition. I was sent for a scan of my leg yesterday, as the results were inconclusive I was sent back to A&E. I saw a consultant in A&E and all he did was ridicule me about being obese. This has really upset me. I survived Covid, I have some congenital conditions that cause pain. To be judged by a consultant like that was very insulting.

Good morning,

Thank you for getting in touch with us and for your positive comments about your inpatient care. I was very sorry to hear that this was not your experience when you attended the Emergency Department on 2nd August 2021.

We would like to talk to you about this in more detail and invite you to call the PALS and Complaints Team on 0161 922 4466 or you can email palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk. In the meantime, your concerns have been shared with the Leadership Team in the department to look into this matter and to reiterate our Trust values and behaviours with the teams.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback, and again would like to apologise for any distress this may have caused you.
