"Virtual visiting during Covid"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Stroke Care (2 south) Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a relative),

When cases rose in the area, Southern Trust hospitals in N Ireland took the precaution of suspending all visits. My wife was in Craigavon having suffered a major stroke two weeks before.

While there were occasional issues with WiFi or background noise I was grateful for this only opportunity to share a few moments. The Virtual Visit team were unfailingly pleasant, sympathetic and helpful, going out of their way especially on the day of our son's wedding to let his mother 'be' there for the occasion. Big thanks to everyone! Covid has created a horrible situation for everyone but your efforts are bringing some much needed comfort and support.

Hi wellingtonstar898,

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback, I'm sorry to hear about your wife, I hope she is improving.

I am sure not being able to visit your wife during this time must have been very difficult, it is great to hear that the virtual visiting has worked so well for you both. The Virtual Visiting Team have been great in bridging the gap for our patients and families.

May I wish you and your family the very best for the future,

Take care,

James

Good afternoon

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the new Virtual Visiting Service in Southern Health and Social Services Trust. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute due to Covid 19.

This new service has been established to try to support families and patients during this time and your story just lets us see how the important the service is to you, your wife and your family.

To read your wonderful comments about the team is truly amazing - and we are delighted that this service allowed your wife to be part of your son's wedding day - during what must have been a very difficult time for you all.

I have personally shared this story with all the members of the Virtual Visiting Team. They are just delighted with this feedback.

Kind regards

Mairead Casey
