I have been in hospital for nearly 3 weeks now and am awaiting discharge.
I was in daisy hill hospital originally where I had an operation and was then transferred to Craigavon hospital for my recovery. I only waited for about half an hour to be transferred to Craigavon and upon my arrival I was given a bed straight away. The ambulance crew were lovely. They were very polite and respectful and took their time with me. The staff on this ward have been absolutely magnificent. They were very caring and I am extremely impressed. They kept me informed with my recovery and changes to my medication so I never felt like I was left in the dark. It is nice to feel like people are looking after you and understand your discomfort and the nurses on the ward really made me feel like they cared.
I am very content in the ward. It is comfortable and I feel safe. The sheets are changed regularly so my bed feels fresh and comfortable to get into. The level of cleanliness on the ward is top tier and this makes the ward feel more pleasant to live in.
The food is also very good. There is a good variety and it is served piping hot.
From my observations in the hospital over the past 3 weeks, the only thing I could criticize would be how understaffed and under-resourced the wards are. The nurses, doctors, cleaners etc are completely run off their feet and don't seem to get a chance to come up for air. They have to put up with unbearable pressure and time constraints and it is not their fault that the likes of waiting lists are so long . I think they do a remarkable job but the system fails its employees at every turn.
