"Mixed review at CAH"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 North Cardiology Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came into A&E on Friday evening and I was seen extremely fast. Everything was communicated to me so well and I was grateful to be monitored from a bed on the A&E ward. I felt safe and knew I was being looked after well as the staff were so attentive and helpful. I was made extremely comfortable by the staff and was surprised by how pleasant my A&E experience was.

I was moved up onto the cardiology ward on Saturday morning and it has been great. All the staff have been so so good and helpful. One thing I would say is that I would like some more communication with regards to my care and treatment as I'm not too sure what the doctors are checking me for right now. Although I am made extremely comfortable on the ward. I am so impressed with how clean the ward is kept and the shower and toilet facilities are so impressive its almost like a 5* hotel. The food isn't too great but I do get more than enough water. I would like some more privacy on the ward and especially at night I am finding it a it hard to sleep as it can get a bit noisy. Its also very disappointing that visitors can't come in to see me as I really am starting to miss my family. I think the staff are so helpful and are willing to try their best to sort me out with what I need, I also really appreciate staff introductions before they come and chat to me as it's nice to know who I'm talking to.

Huge thanks to all the staff helping me get better, I admire their skills and dedication to their work!

Good morning

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience within Craigavon Area Hospital. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute due to Covid 19 due to the restrictions on visiting. We have introduced a Virtual Visiting Service within the Trust. This new service has been established to try to support families and patients during this time and enables families to stay connected.

I attach below details on how your family/friends can book a visit. Once a virtual visit has been booked our Virtual Visiting Officer will then goes along to each patient and set up the call with the virtual visitor using the Trust's iPads. These virtual visits can be with families or friends. Image title

We hope that you are continuing to improve.

Kind regards

Mairead Casey
