"Dedicated end of life care at home"

About: Community Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Strathcarron Hospice / Day Care Service

(as a relative),

Mums are very special. They bring us into this world, they nurture us, they guide us in love and make the biggest sacrifices. This is exactly who my mum was.

Suddenly, my mum who was our most precious diamond took unwell. You can imagine the heartache from that moment onwards knowing that she was going to leave us all behind. My mum was very blessed as she had a family that loved her dearly.

The care that my mum received at home provided by the district nursing team and palliative care line team was absolutely amazing. Not only did they look after my mum needs, but they supported a family who were broken and very much in need. Just to see their smiling faces come though the door each day was a blessing. The nurses would address my mum by her name and they knew all of our names which made the whole experience very person centred.

When my mum died on in March 2021, my sisters and I carried out last offices, done her hair, done her make up and dressed her in clothes that made her look very nice. The Dr that came to certify her death said that my mum looked beautiful and this showed her the high standards of care my mum received.

I would like to give special thanks to Sandra and her wider team for their love and support. Also Caroline and the district nursing team. Lesley and the medical team at Strathcarron Hospice for their care and guidance. The palliative care line for their dedicated support over challenging nights. Also Marie Curie nurses for providing wonderful care my mum who is now resting in paradise, a place called heaven x
