Neonatal and the birthing centre are fantastic. Just hope you dont end up on the antenatal/postnatal ward. I was left on only paracetamol after a c section and still had to chase them over and over to get them. Had 6 canulas fitted as every time doctor/nurse didnt like what had been done previously and so fitted another one. Ended up discharging myself as i knew i could take better care of myself at home. Its was like sitting in a red hot oven as the sun was on the room all day and the broken fan did not help, aircon might be qn improvement for them.
The toilets are a joke, although they didnt seem funny at the time. They are way too close to the wall and too low down which makes it really difficult to get on and off them after a c-section. I had to try to sit sideways on them but then would have to try to turn round to try to pull myself up on the wall.
The facilities are old and feel shabby. There is no tv in the rooms so i was in pain and had no entertainment. Maybe if my husband was allowed to visit it wouldnt have been so bad but as he had been in the delivery room with me and then stayed on the birthing unit until 8am with me until he went home to get a wash and something to eat, once i moved to antinatal/postnatal ward they wouldnt allow him to come visit me for the rest of the day as he had already been with me that day. They were very good at using COVID as an excuse for everything.
If you can get to another maternity unit, do it. Hopefully you will have a better experience
