"Oral Day Surgery"

About: West Cornwall Hospital (Penzance) / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

From the point of entry to the unit for my oral surgery I was treated in such a personal and friendly manner and instantly welcomed and put at my ease. Considering how very anxious I was, I was very grateful for their welcoming approach. Everyone I met introduced themselves and defined the roles they had in my care and that I found very respectful. Dr Aziz my dental surgeon is a real gentleman and a very skilled dental surgeon. I have had no discomfort from my extractions at all and I so appreciated his respectful, quiet manner. It helped allay my fears so much. Sam The anaesthetist  was equally professional and mindful of pertinent information in a really clear manner and pain control information. This was very appreciated as I was equally anxious in regard to a general anaesthetic [I am definitely not the best of patients] but his professional manner was so reassuring - I never doubted his knowledge and skill in his care and appreciated he kept me informed at every step, it was very reassuring. Matthew the ODA equally played his role superbly with his corny jokes and personal approach too put me at such ease. The team work and approach was seamless and professional always. As for Lorraine and Maria the unit nursing assistants were just fabulous in their relaxed and reassuring manner. Catherine's care in recovery was lovely too and I am sorry I was so gibberish because she was such a lovely caring soul towards me in her care. Lastly I would like to thank the window of this seamless service - the wonderful lady who dealt with all the telephoned arrangements for my smooth admission and information sharing. I wish I knew her name to really pay my greatest thanks and praise for such efficient, interpersonal skills and gentle, caring manner. What a credit to the team. With all the anxiety I had built up within myself due to Covid and a harrowing previous experience that had scarred me psychologically. Your wonderful team were the solve to my fears. My BP came down to normal 105/58 due to our wonderful NHS team who I shall remember with the greatest respect. Thank you is all I can say

Dear Barbs68

Coming into hospital for a procedure can be an anxious time and I am pleased to read that you had kind, caring and compassionate staff who helped but you at ease. I hope you are recovering well and that you had no discomfort following your extractions.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and kind words.

Kind Regards

Maria
