"The only shelter we have from this heat"

About: Adult Mental Health / Ward 2 (Adult Mental Health)

(as a service user),

Today it is 23 degrees in Wishaw and due to one person smoking in the court yard all 22 patients are being contained in the ward.   Instead of punishing the non smokers it should be the smoker who is confined to the ward.   Yes there are limited walk groups however the court yard is the only shelter we have from this heat. In a mental health ward where it is volatile already this is not only irritating but is also unbearable

I'm sorry that you are finding the heat unbearable and feel irritated by the situation. It is my understanding that the court yard is accessible to patients today and I would therefore encourage you to approach the ward staff to discuss this further. I hope that you are able to spend some time in the court yard to experience some relief from the heat.

Thanks Mhari, the court yard was opened the next day after my post thanks but only after all the patients had to argue our case. This is an ongoing issue people with poor mental don't need when in hospital
