"I was sent away without antibiotics"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

My GP reffed me in yesterday morning as I had a bladder infection and after I had a wee blood came out on its own it wasn’t in the wee so as I was concerned cause I had womb cancer back in 2019 and they said there was something wrong with me then but they didn’t know what they sent me home then and the next day blood came away and I had to rush off to my Gp and it was found I had womb cancer so I then had a hysterectomy back in 2019.

For the last few months I have had no appetite and have weight loss but I didn’t ring the Gp cause of that as that is getting looked at on Monday by me having gastro but what am bothered about is that blood came out two days ago after I had a wee it was not in my wee it came after I have really bad tummy pain I went off to AE.

Anyway the doctor said they would be keeping me in for a few days cause of my past cancer experience and cause the blood came after the wee I had my blood done it showed that everything was ok but my sample was positive. Then I got called again for the same doctor to say we are sending you home and then was being funny with me cause they said the my Gp need to think about the AE and should of done a sample. I was sent home with no antibiotics to get rid of the infection no antibiotics was put threw the cannula.

I was just sent home then today I rang the AE back up and complained and they said come back and I’ll give u some antibiotics it was a different doctor. they did give me some then said if I still feel unwell come back. Also it’s about time they let your careers stay with you when you’re Wheelchair bound it’s disgusting and I want treating better properly bye a doctor

Dear Guke

I am sorry that you have had cause to complain about your experience in the Pilgrim Hospital Emergency Department when you attended.

I can assure you that I will raise the issues with my team and iterate the importance of ensuring our patient’s needs are being met. I am truly sorry and cannot alter your experience, however I can ensure that our staff learn from it.

Kind Regards
