"The team made a bad birth so much easier"

About: Maternity care / 2 West Maternity Maternity care / Maternity Admission/Assessment Unit

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was brought in on Tuesday to hopefully give birth on Wednesday. However, I had to wait another 24 hours due to the staff shortage. The long waits were quite annoying and I wish the process was slightly quicker.

I went through quite a bad birth however the team made it so much easier. They explained everything well in a way that I could understand. They communicated with me well.

They also kept me talking during the process which helped a lot. The student nurse Rebecca was so lovely and was with me most of the time. The midwives; Lucy and Jenny are pleasant too.
The induction bay was so hot. It was such a small space and it felt really confined. It was far too warm.
This ward is a good temperature.
The food is grand; it is nice to have someone make it for you.
The facilities are nice and clean.
It is actually quite nice not having many visitors in the ward. It is much quieter and peaceful as there aren't lots of families around or kids running around the ward. It is good to get some rest before going home.

Your lovely comments are encouraging for our team and I will happily ensure your comments are passed on to the staff.

I am sorry for the delay in your care, this was not intentional but to ensure that you were provided with the safest one to one care that you deserve.

All the very best for the future to you and your family
