"An incident with a very abusive patient"

Another patient was very angry & threatening & was complaining about every aspect of their care. At the same time was extremely abusive on the phone to their family about being picked up. Security personel were called. The nurses attempted to placate the patient, unsuccessfully, the doctor was called & then the consultant. Neither were able to placate the patient, & the doctor & consultant were unable to impress upon the patient the serious consequences of self-discharging. The patient continued to rant & eventually walked out.

The doctors & nurses were absolutely amazing. They remained calm (as one would expect from such professional people) & at no time was any other patient put at risk.
