"Wisdom Teeth problems"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Oral Surgery/maxillofacial

(as a service user),

On the Friday in early May, I received a letter stating that I had not turned up to my outpatient appointment for a wisdom teeth referral at 13:50 2 days prior (the Wednesday), however at no point had I arranged an appointment on this date, nor had I received any information confirming this appointment.

My initial appointment was on the Friday, however a week or so before, I called to cancel this appointment as I could no longer attend. I spoke to a member of staff who offered me an appointment the Wednesday (the so-called missed appointment), however I declined this offer. I was told that there were no appointments in the near future so I would either receive a call back with the offer of a new one or receive a letter confirming a new appointment in the post. I received neither of these.

I have now been in the process of getting my wisdom teeth seen to for 1.5 years. The initial referral was apparently lost and sent to the wrong address, so to be told that my current referral has been cancelled for the second time due to no fault of my own, is quite upsetting. I did send a letter out-ling all of this at the beginning of June but have not even received an acknowledgement. I am in so much pain now and cannot bear the thought of starting this whole process again!
