"colonoscopy"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I went to Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline for a colonoscopy. Absolutely a nervous wreck due to an experience of this procedure 20 years ago, and reading web online stories  didn't help reassure me.

This time couldn't have been more different. The staff from arrival were brilliant. So supportive of my nerves and explained what would be happening and the choice was always mine to stop if I felt uncomfortable. Their constant reassurance and support throughout the procedure was fantastic.

Doctor Wilson was amazing. He explained this was a partnership that we would both work together. I felt I was part of the team and not just the patient. The procedure was easy, pain free and I even watched it on the monitor. The two nurses Julie and Jennifer (aka the dream team) were with me the whole time and were the very best at making me feel at ease and in safe hands.

After it was finished I got the hospital tea and toast  which always is the best tasting toast ever. If I had to return tomorrow and do it again I would in a heartbeat. Can't get over the needless anxiety I had for weeks leading up this procedure.

Thanks to the care and professionalism of the team. It was a positive experience and I am forever grateful to them.

Dear nalawal

Thank you for taking time to feedback about your recent experience here at the Regional Endoscopy Unit at Queen Margaret. I was delighted to hear how positive your experience was this time compared to previous procedures in other areas, and that throughout your journey and how professional the team were.

I was especially pleased to hear who well you were treated by our brilliant staff, that they were supportive and caring which made you feel you were in safe hands, throughout your journey and this helped to reduced your anxiety if you have to make a return visit. Yes the tea and toast does just round of the journey after fasting for so long

It will give me great delight to pass on your very kind comments to the team especially Dr Wilson, Jennifer and Julie. Wishing you a speedy recovery

Kindest regards

Ann
