My son has complex medical health needs. Due to his condition we have a care package through the ballymena community nursing team. Every day life requires support from the CCN (community children’s nursing ). This can consist of needing equipment, asking advice, getting bloods or other nursing interventions and sorting out when we have help coming into our home to care for him. I speak to the team on a regular basis and I have built up lovely relationships with the girls. Sometimes I just need someone to talk to, that’s just enough at times to get me though my week. In times of crisis (being unwell myself ) or when my son's condition deteriorates I have to say the CCN team always do their best to give me extra support. I cannot emphasis how much this means to me and my family. It’s this kind of support that ensures I am well and able to care for my children. I have been touched on many occasions when this happens. It just shows the care behind the members of the CCN. I truely feel that we are cared for and that it’s not just a job for the girls behind those phone calls. As a family we are so appreciative of all the care provided to our son family we feel that the CCN team meets the holistic needs of our family. I don’t know how we would manage without them.
