"Disappointed "

About: Pershore Medical Practice

My medications have been delivered without fail every week for the last fourteen months. The staff in the pharmacy have been outstanding. Last week I was left off and had to ring to get them delivered. This week they missed me off again. When I rang today I was told I hadn’t been forgotten and they would be delivered later. My medication has always been delivered by 10 a.m and I waited for four hours with my support worker for them to be delivered. I couldn’t get my shopping or walk my dogs and I only have 14 hours of care a week. Four hours of my precious care was wasted and they still hadn’t been delivered. I had to ring again and say I couldn’t wait in any longer I needed to go shopping. There was no time left with the carer for me to collect them. I was told by the surgery that patients cannot dictate what time their medications are delivered and I pointed out that it is not fair to expect people to stay in the whole day. I have no way of collecting my medications and both the delivery days are on the days I have appointments in the opposite direction to Pershore. A lovely member of the pharmacy team delivered them to me on their way home. I am really disappointed that I was accused of dictating when it was they who forgot me again.

Thank you for your comments and we are very sorry that you are disappointed with our delivery service. It is good to hear that you have been happy with the service for the past 14 months. We are sorry your delivery wasn't delivered on time last week. We have widened our delivery criteria during Covid19 to include delivering medication to our shielded and vulnerable patients. To help with planning this expanded delivery service and in response to feedback from patients who told us that they would like to have a regular day for their delivery we have set delivery days for each area. As the day set for your area was not convenient for you we have tried to accommodate your request to deliver to you on an alternative day (Wednesday instead of a Tuesday). This accommodation does means that our driver has to go out of the area s/he is delivering on that day to drop off your medication. As a result of this it is difficult for us to guarantee what time it will be delivered.

The home delivery service works on the principle that we are delivering to patients who are housebound or shielding so there is an expectation that they will be in the house but of course we do appreciate that patients need to go out on occasion. Please be assured that we will continue to try our best to deliver your medication to you on the day that suits you and at a time which works well for you where possible.

If you would like to discuss this further or have any questions about our response please don't hesitate to ring the Practice to speak to me.
