"All so lovely and professional and friendly"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Day Surgery Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Orthopaedics Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Theatre & Recovery

(as the patient),

I went in today for the removal of 7 screws and a plate from my ankle. On arrival into Day Surgery I was called and met  by a very lovely HCSW within a few minutes of am checking in at the reception. I was taken to my bed space to settle in, I then had my surgeon Mr Drampalos arrive to go over my consent and pain questionnaire and to mark up my leg again very quickly from arriving in the department. My anaesthetist was very friendly and professional and put me at ease straight away as it turns out he had been my anaesthetist when my ORIF was done. He explained everything very clearly and allowed me to ask any questions I may have had at any time during our conversation. I was then greeted by a very lovely, professional and friendly staff nurse who checked me in and again made me feel at ease. I was taken through to go over my final checks in theatre prior to my anaesthetic. The staff again were all so lovely and professional. My 2 recovery nurses were so patient with me coming round and requiring further pain relief and were very attentive.

On return to day surgery while feeling very emotional I couldn’t have asked for a better team of nurses and HCSW to look after me. Nothing was a bother to them and again made me so relaxed. They ensured I was comfortable enough and that my pain wasn’t too bad. I was given tea and toast (always tastes the best after surgery). I was reviewed with physio with my moon boot and crutches both physio and student were very patient with me and never once did I feel rushed or like I was a bother to them.

After nearly 2 years from breaking my ankle and not having the best experience at the start I have to say that the treatment I have now had twice from the theatre and Day surgery team has really been phenomenal and I really can’t thank them enough. Both times I felt like I was being treated like I was there only patient and never at any time did I feel rushed or a bother to them unlike other dealing I have had thought this time.

A massive thank you to each and every member of staff today for everything you have done for me and restoring my faith in FVRH

Dear Justhappy,

Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely feedback on your experience with ourselves. I'm really pleased to hear how well you felt taken care off and that the staff made you feel at ease during a very anxious time for yourself. I hope that you are recovering well at home now. I'll make sure to share your experience with all the staff and let them know what a great job they are doing!

Take care,

Keri Forrester
