My mum (87 years old) had an early morning appointment at X-ray dept Hairmyres Hospital in June. It was an ordeal to get there for 9am. She was taken through and put in a room and handed a gown to change into. I had highlighted when handing her over that she was very anxious and needed help to dress and undress. No help was given. Twenty minutes later she was brought back to me by a nurse who told me that they were unable to carry out the Barium Meal as the machine wasn’t working. She said they had left a message on my phone the previous day. I can assure you I had no missed calls and no voicemail.
Why had my mum to go through the ordeal of undressing, putting on a gown and dressing herself again? She was given no help and , obviously, the machine had been out of action from the previous day.
Total lack of communication with staff which caused my mum stress and anxiety! Not good enough Hairmyres X-ray staff!!
