"Getting appointments"

About: Meadowgreen Health Centre

(as a service user),

It takes over half an hour for calls to be answered, then when trying to book a non emergency appointment waiting times are 1 month away for a telephone call. Cannot get in to see Doctor without them calling you back first to see if it justifies an appointment. Its really disappointing to be turned away from face to face appointments still and then to be expected to come in at a time that suits them rather than being able to book a suitable time around work. It feels like Covid is now becoming a convenient excuse to palm people off, and I know that my family who attend other medical centres in Sheffield are able to book face to face appointments within the week. I do not feel like patients' needs are important or taken into account.

Dear Patient

Many thanks for taking the time to post on Care Opinion regarding the Practice. We apologise that it is taking a while for the phones to be answered. The Practice is currently under extreme pressure because of the impact COVID has had on us and also we are now in the flu season and patients are making their appointments for their flu vaccines.

We have increased our telephone lines and also we have increased our Reception Staff by 25% however it appears that all GP Surgeries across the Country are experiencing the same problems.

Unfortunately the high 'did not attend' level from our patients impacts on availability of future appointments. In the month of August we had 526 Doctor and Nurse appointments wasted because patients did not arrive for their appointment and did not let us know to cancel them.

The majority of our patients are happy with the triage system as it allows them to be seen on the same day if they are not feeling well.

Once again we apologise that you are not happy with the service and if you would like to discuss this further, please contact the Practice and speak to the Practice Manager.

Kind regards
