"Inability to get a doctors appointment"

About: Banbury Cross Health Centre

I have tried for over a week, every morning to get a doctors appointment for a repeat prescription. Today I got through and despite having now run out of my drugs, I was told that no Doctors appointments available and I would have to use the 111 service. Second month in a row I have suffered a lack of drugs as Doctor want to take me off the drug completely, at this rate it is going cold turkey!!

Thank-you for posting a comment. Ordinarily, you wouldn't need an appointment to get a repeat prescription? No surgeries are allowed to take prescription requests over the phone. This is a safety measure to avoid transcription errors. We do have a pharmacy team who have phone slots. These can be used to manage prescription queries and are often used when someone has had a medication change from the hospital or outpatients. We also have eConsult which is a non-urgent way of contacting us which people often find helpful for prescription queries. You could also set up Patient Access or use the NHS app to request prescriptions. I hope this is helpful. Many thanks
