"I want to commend and congratulate her"

About: Enhanced Care / Community Respiratory Care

(as a service user),

Her name was Deidre. I just want to make some comment about her attitude, commitment, professionalism and caring attitude to my wife in assessing her respiratory problems.

I am 83 years of age and my wife is the same age. We have had lots of visitors offering their services over the last year and a half, and up till today I've been a little disappointed, disgruntled and incandescent with rage at some of the people who try to assist my wife, who has vascular dementia.

For the first time, I am feeling ebullient and effervescent in my assessment of this person. We have dental visits, doctor visits, orthopaedics, all sorts. They all do not have what Deidre has; that singular, instant rapport with my wife. I admire her for being so patient, coherent and empathetic. She explored all the possibilities, and the limitations, associated with the treatment for someone with vascular dementia.

I want to commend her, and I want to congratulate her, I want to say how good she has been, I don't need her to know I'm the one saying it.

Dear octansse36,

I am Elaine Mulligan, the Service Lead for the Community Respiratory Team across the Southern Trust.

I am delighted to hear such a lovely comment about Deirdre who is one of our Respiratory nurses on the team and how her commitment, professionalism and caring attitude to your wife, who has vascular dementia, was evident in assessing her respiratory problems.

It was particularly lovely to hear that Deirdre had that instant rapport with your wife exploring all the possibilities and the limitations, associated with the treatment for someone with vascular dementia.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback, I will make sure it is passed on to Deirdre and the wider team.

Elaine
