"I'm now a happy motivated person"

About: Change Grow Live Cambridgeshire

(as the patient),

I was having trouble with alcohol and another substance. My mum researched CGL and rang them as she was getting really worried about me. CGL responded quickly and I had an appointment set up in the next week or so. I spoke to a support worker there and he asked me questions related to my current intake of the alcohol and substance. Then he gave me support by telling me about online groups which I attended. They really helped gearing others experiences with their addictions and then my key worker would give strategies of how to cope when having the cravings and distractions. With CGLs help I have now completely stopped drinking etc and I'm a happy, motivated person.

Hi L1998

All of that sounds fantastic. Mum reached out and got support for you. Does she know we have a dedicated Family and Friends service? Its great that you hve got on well with online groups. This is something which is good to come out of the whole COVID period. More people getting access without leaving home. We do face to face too now which is great. We think that supporting each other through recovery is one of the most important things. really understanding what is happening for people. Keep attending and taking those crucial steps forward.

Thanks

Paul
