My elderly uncle lives with his special needs brother.
Two stories really.
1) was just how great Naomi in the OT team was in helping sort out a grant for a much needed wet room. Seems simple but only because she navigated the bumps in the road as she cared about helping as well as following due process.
2) was the great response to a couple of falls by my uncle. The first in February was sorted by a neighbour who is a nurse and managed to get him into bed. But my other uncle found him on the floor at 5.00am. The ambulance turned up in 10mins. The ICT team (Julie & Linda) were there sharpish in the morning and sorted extra care and a community alarm and stuff. Promised a physio next day or day after to get my uncle on his feet.
But he fell again in the night and there was no show from the hoped for physio so his brother called me at 1.30 in a flumux.
I got through quick to Social Work and even quicker to the fantastic young woman who had been the one who attended in February (Linda & Julia).
She was just brilliant. Very calm and caring. We realised some crossed wires about the GP. He had been out, but before the falls. She called my uncle immediately to clarify, then the GP was quick out again and then the ambulance and hospital. On being hoisted by the crew onto the ambulance he said "Oh I'm going up in the world"
I don't think my uncle could have got better care.
My point is not just about the care shown by all but more about how it just worked seamlessly. Not pillar to post stuff. Seems this Intermediate Care Team (ICT) is a new idea so I just want to say it works in Newmilns!
