"A smooth time in the department"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Day surgery

(as the patient),

I attended day surgery this week for a procedure on my jaw. This is usually done under GA but due to waiting times, Mr Halsnad has taken the initiative to trial it under local anaesthetic. The whole department were lovely, smiley, welcoming, efficient. Even with face masks every person I passed was open and upbeat. Special thanks to my named nurse, Moto and the advanced theatre practitioner, Dani, both very professional, reassuring and knowledgeable. It is obviously a new procedure to the department and staff took time to ask pertinent questions and to understand the patient's journey. Overall the staff couldn't have been better. The procedure itself was uncomfortable but I felt well prepared and kept up to date throughout. I hope my recovery is as smooth as my time in the department. Thank you.

Dear NRC-21

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of using the Day Surgery Unit of the New Victoria Hospital.

I would like to start by wishing you a speedy recovery with your jaw from myself and all the staff at the New Victoria Hospital.

It was nice to hear how you held all the staff you came across in such high regard and everyone was professional, welcoming and efficient while under their care.

Its a daunting experience at the best of times coming into hospital never mind for an operation so to hear you were made to feel at ease and reassured was comforting to hear.

I will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to all the staff involved and thanks again this means a lot to the staff in this difficult time.

Kind regards

Kevin

Dear NRC-21

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us your story. I hope you are recovering well. I'm delighted to hear that you found the experience very smooth. I'm sure others will take comfort in reading about your experience especially when its hard to think about going into hospital and mixing with others during a pandemic. I will make sure that the staff are aware of your feedback and as ever thy will be pleased to hear that they re making such a difference. Good luck

Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Catherine
