"Treatment in A&E"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a service user),

I had to attend A&E, as advised by my GP earlier on in the day, due to worsening pain.   I was promptly seen by the triage nurse and then waited to see the doctor.   When I was greeted by the doctor I was advised that I didn't look like I was in much pain and questioned over who had sent me to A&E.   The doctors attitude towards me I felt was quite rude and dismissive.   The pain I was experiencing can be linked to a medical emergency and as my gp advised me if my pain worsened to attend A&E immediately which I did.

I understand emergency services are under pressure but in a world where you can be anything kindness and humility go a long way.

Dear Never at the dr

I sincerely hope you are feeling better and your pain is under control. I would like to apologise for the manner by which you felt you were treated in the Emergency Department. It would never be our intention to be rude or dismissive to any patient. I thank you for your feedback as it is important for us to learn from patients perceptions and experiences when attending the Emergency Department. I will ensure to share your feedback with the Emergency department team.

Yours sincerely

Donna Clark
