"I needed an amputation"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / General surgery Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Vascular surgery

(as the patient),

I was let down by many clinics as  Covid started, was dropped from different clinics. Tried to explain to one person that I needed treatment but was told I was no longer a priority. Foot began to get worse, got antibiotics from doctor but did not work then woke up one morning and was unable to stand.

Things happened, had catastrophe at hospital as everything had changed and I needed an amputation.  Ended up on s11, was in same room I've been in before, lovely quiet room  The staff on this ward are fantastic from cleaners to consultants you are always looked after  Everything that happened to me as I had 3 surgeries was explained from start to finish operating staff and recovery were fantastic.

Food is really bad. I was in for 5 weeks and came out as my family said looking like a ghost. Not staff's fault, poor catering. Tea person every couple of hours, loads of choice kept rehydrated always.

Thank you for sharing with us your recent experience. I will share your lovely feedback with the staff on S11 who will be delighted to know you felt so looked after. I will also share your comments about catering with the Estates & Facilities Team.

I hope you are feeling better and are on the road to recovery.
