"Appointment telephone system"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Cardiology (Ward 4)

(as the patient),

On Monday 10th May 2021 received an appointment letter for Holter Monitoring this letter advised that if I wished to change appointment I should telephone 01698 366380 within seven days of the date on the letter (date on letter is 05/05/2021).

Unfortunately I need to change this date. On Monday 10th may 2021 I telephoned the number and  was advised by a message to leave my name and telephone number and I would receive a call that day which I duly did . I did not receive a call that day although we did not leave home.

On Tuesday morning 11th May 2021 I repeated the exercise and again was advised by the same message. I advised my name, my date of birth and advised that I need change of date and gave my mobile phone number. Again I did not receive a call.

The letter clearly states that if I do not reply or attend then I will be removed from the list.

I will repeat the exercise again tomorrow morning this being the last day before I can request a change or I will be struck of the list.

I feel this system needs to be improved to ensure that all calls are answered or perhaps a queuing system should be implemented this can be annoying with long waits but eventually you get a reply.

Good morning Out patient

I am so sorry to hear about the trouble you have been experiencing with our appointment system. This is clearly not the standard of communication that we aspire to have and I can only apologise for that.

It would be helpful if you could contact my Patient Affairs colleagues so that we can discuss the issues you have experienced in more detail.

You can contact them on Telephone number: 01698 366558.

Best wishes

Jean
