"Total knee replacement surgery received"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 26, 27, 61 & 62 ) New Stobhill Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I would like to thank Dr Shaw orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Infirmary Glasgow and his incredible team in the operating theatre for the care and attention I received during surgery at Stobhill Hospital Glasgow.

My pre op meeting with Dr Shaw at the Royal was very reassuring as he explained the procedure to me in layman's terms and alleviated my concerns as this was my first experience of major surgery. Prior to going into theatre  as expected I was very nervous and tense and was visited by the anaesthetist. A lovely young woman asked if I had any concerns, I had only one, I didn't want to hear certain things during surgery as the procedure as being done under epidural. She assured me she would control that in theatre and she was true to her word.

I apologise again to the team who I now refer to as God's mechanics for the problems I caused by being so tense! My thanks also extend to all the staff at the Royal for all the pre op clinics I attended prior to surgery. And lastly all the staff at Stobhill Hospital nurses, physio's who looked after me after surgery. they were very attentive right through the night and could not have done more for me during my overnight stay. I am indebted to each and every one of you and thank you again.

Yours sincerely

Dear Jasmac,

Thanks for getting in touch to complement Mr Shaw and his team for the care you received. It is an understandable reaction to be nervous undergoing such surgery and I am pleased our tram were able to put you at ease and make the surgery more bearable. I will pass on your kind comments to Mr Shaw and his team and also through our Stobhill rehabilitation teams. I wish you a continued and speedy recovery.

Best wishes

John Carson
