"Rude and insensitive practice"

About: Temple Hill Surgery

Very rude receptionist and unwilling to help genuine patients with issues. Being first time pregnant, I'm quite anxious and suffering from high nausea for which 111 prescribed me a medicine until first consultation with midwife. Midwife asked me to continue the medication by contacting the GP for a prescription. The Temple hill surgery GP does not even want to listen and understand what is being asked of them which is a simple repeat prescription for existing medication.

Instead the receptionist has been rude and blaming me for not calling earlier when the call was actually made immediately after the midwife appointment so I know whether to continue the medicine or not. Completely insensitive on their part to talk to me like that when I'm suffering and I didn't think this was the way a GP is supposed to be dealing with a pregnant woman. I would avoid this surgery and shift to an online or different GP.

Thank you for your post. Irrespective of the circumstance, our receptionists are not allowed to take medication requests over the phone as they are not clinically trained. This may have been the source of the misunderstanding. There are approved ways of new medication being requested such as having an appointment with a clinician. As you included your name, I reviewed your records and found that following your contact with 111, you were called by our duty doctor the same day but a message could not be left. You then spoke to pharmacist the following day (today) and she has issued you with your medication. Not many practices are that responsive to their patients.
