Whilst waiting to attend a GP consultation I approached the receptionist with a simple enquiry with regards to some requested medication - I was told ‘ no they don’t deal with enquiries and I would have to phone up !!!! Even when I pleaded -but I am here in front of you - no joy ... same response I would have to phone .. !!!!( that’s a stress inducing feat in itself -at best the amount of time you generally have to wait to get through to a receptionist via phone is excessive ) I don’t understand why a front of surgery receptionist cannot answer basic enquiries or book appointments ..? Whilst waiting to see the Gp I witnessed two other people approach the receptionist and ask to book In For appointments - they were told in a matter of fact manner- ‘you have to telephone ‘ is it the world gone mad when a receptionist cannot fulfil a receptionist role - to help ..seems there is no common sense or caring attitude to be found at this practice !! Very poor indeed ! Makes for a bad overall experience !
