"Life saver!"

About: BPAS Richmond CC/Clinic

I found out I was expecting very late. It was an unplanned pregnancy so my immediate decision was a termination for personal reasons.

I had to undergo a two day surgical procedure that I was extremely nervous about and my anxiety the day before the first part of the procedure for some reason was through the roof! I stayed at a Travelodge nearby as I reside in East London and being away from home didn’t help, my emotions were all over the place. I knew I definitely didn’t want to go through with the pregnancy but I felt guilty due to how far along I was. I was angry at myself for not knowing a lot sooner. I have two children so how did I miss this? Was constantly playing over and over in my mind. This decision was extremely difficult, just knowing how much of a blessing kids are, it was tough! When I attended day 1 of my appointment, the nurse was a God sent. She asked if I was certain about my decision and was non-judgmental when I said I was, she thoroughly explained the procedure and risks and I would say overall, she really put my mind at ease and helped me to put all of my thoughts into perspective. To be honest, all of the staff members were pleasant and extremely helpful. So when it came to day 2 of the procedure, I was calm and knew I was in safe hands. Unfortunately there were complications were I bled heavily following the surgical procedure but they dealt with the situation fantastically. I woke up, not knowing what had happened, I was well looked after by the team whom looked after me. I plan to check in with my GP in the coming days just as a follow up however, I am up and about and feeling happy about the decision I made.

Thank you so much BPAS Richmond for the support, professionalism and care, I cannot recommend you enough!
