"Recovery from addiction and bereavement"

About: CGL Birmingham / North Hub

(as a service user),

I joined a 12 week CGL PROGRAMME. It was on zoom and it has honestly saved my life my family and I am do grateful. I have had issues with alcohol for years due to low self esteem. Past traumas like abuse and couldn’t deal with my emotions. My mentor was amazing and so supportive. We got information about lots of other services we could access post the CHANGE GO LIVE course. I would highly recommend it however you have to commit and it will work. Give the programme as much input as you did your addiction and you are on a winner. I made lots of friends and feel amazing. I am now in my 50s and family life is good.

Dear Peace86

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

My name is Lydia and I'm part of the team at Change Grow Live that listens and responds to people when they leave feedback.

It was really lovely to read the words that you shared about accessing our support. I'm so glad to hear you feel like you received life saving help and that you would highly recommend our service to others who may need it.

I'm aware how important it is for people to be able to address the root causes of their alcohol issues and it sounds like the support you received from your mentor and our 12 week programme has really helped you to do that. I will share your feedback with our Programme Team so they get to learn about how much you've appreciated their support.

In your story you touch on a key point about how important it is for people to be prepared to fully commit to their recovery, if they are going to be successful in changing their lives. I one hundred percent agree with this and I hope you are able to recognise how much your own hard work and effort has played a part in your recovery.

You should feel very proud of yourself and I hope that you continue to go from strength to strength in your recovery.

Thank you again for sharing with us and I wish you and your family all the very best for the future.

Take care

Lydia
