The team at RCH Treliske were extremely supportive, and helped me to get over the nightmare of constant throbbing pain across my face. I had an X-Ray, then an appointment for surgery within 2 weeks. I have nothing but positivity for the RCHT team :)
The struggle to get to that point however, was anything but pleasant. It took me opening my heart about my ideation multiple times to effectively force the appointment.
In my opinion GPs these days don't actually care until your are suicidal, but unfortunately that's how I feel. I hate having to talk about staring over the new road bridge in detail, but I felt it was the only way to get the issue escalated.
I am clinically diagnosed with Autism, Depression, & Anxiety, yet it still took a lot of screaming and crying to finally get an appointment.
I get that there is a pandemic on, and yet that is no excuse for the chronic underfunding of our health services this has been an issue for years. I can't imagine how many people have been in my position, and ended up taking their lives, because of an inability to access the health service.
In conclusion; I feel for my GP, and the team at RCHT, they did nothing wrong, they're trying their best in an impossible situation. I have nothing but respect for them, I blame the deliberate decisions of government to chronically underfund our health services.
