"Accessing NHS Physio service at Bridgwater Hospital"

About: Bridgwater Community Hospital

(as a service user),

I am Deaf. I was sent an appointment for physio and while I waiting in the waiting room a BSL interpreter arrived.  She explained she was there for me. I informed her I wasn't aware an interpreter had been booked but was very happy about this.  When Jenny, the physio, came to get me she explained she had tried to book an interpreter but wasn't notified if one was coming or not so she had prepared written questions to ask me in case there were communication difficulties. How amazing is she?

Jenny's communication skills were exemplary in the time I was there with her (along with her other skills).  What an amazing, refreshing experience to have. Accessing health services is normally a negative experience for many Deaf people but this made my day. Thank you Jenny!
