"Tilt test experience"

About: St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I had an appointment for a tilt test in September 2020. I arrived in good time for my appointment and let the receptionist know that I was there. After waiting for a couple of hours and seeing many other patients be called for the their appointments, I asked the receptionist if they knew roughly how much longer I was likely to be waiting - a short while later, the manager of the cardiac investigations service came to tell me that the hospital had not resumed tilt table tests and that my appointment was simply 'forgotten to be cancelled'. I was informed that I would be able to claim a refund for my travel expenses (having travelled from Sussex to London to attend the appointment) and would be prioritised when the service reopened but I have to this day heard nothing back from the hospital's bursar and have not received any other contact from St. George's. I fully appreciate why the testing had not resumed at this time and the general pressures that service was under and continues to be under, however, this administrative failing did lead to unneeded travel and expenses and has potentially delayed my diagnosis.

Whilst the staff were great, clearly administrative failures took place.
