I had to have a short 5 day stay in Kings B ward in late March and I was so impressed by the standard of nursing care I and all the patients received. The nursing staff were cheerful and happy and really couldn't do enough for all their patients. One nurse, in particular, was exceptionally caring and thoughtful - going out her way to find hearing aid batteries for one patient and saving a longed for egg sandwich for another. Small things in themselves but it means so much when you are not feeling your best. Acts like this make the difference between standard and excellent nursing. I would like to name and praise her and other individuals but I see from the guidelines I am not allowed. For years I have had a cynical and pessimistic view of the NHS but King B ward has restored my faith.
