"Kind district nursing care after major surgery"

About: Community Nursing Services / Rushcliffe Community Nursing Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I was rushed into the hospital in January with vomiting and stomach pains. At 11pm I had a double ileostomy resulting in a stoma bag.

After four weeks this was not working so I had a reversal which needed daily dressing. After a further week in hospital I was discharged.

The district nurses were calling anyway to my husband as he was very poorly and we had live in care by Helping Hands. All the nurses were very good but the one which stood out was Gemma the team leader. She was so kind, supportive and caring to both myself and my husband knowing the situation we were in.

She often sits on bed holding my hand and comforting me as my husband passed away in mid-March. I still need visits as the wound has not completely healed.

Hi Robinson Crueso,

I'm sorry to hear you lost your husband recently, please accept my sincere condolences. I'm so pleased to hear your district nursing team have been supportive and compassionate, especially during this incredibly difficult time for you.

I will make sure your positive comments are passed onto Gemma and the team. I hope you continue to make a full recovery from your recent surgery.

Kind regards

Sarah
