"It was such a relief to see my elderly dad"

About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a relative),

I set up a virtual hospital visit not really knowing what to expect. I wondered if my dad would be able to see and hear me, or would something happen in the ward which would make the call impossible or indeed would it happen at all.

I should not have worried the whole process from setting up the call with a very helpful lady on the booking system, to the call happening at the correct time, it being set up on an iPad on my dads table at the right position, to the length of call, it was a first class service all the way.

It was such a relief to see my elderly dad and for him to see me. He could hear me loud and clear and see me perfectly.

This is such a great service in these days of COVID restrictions.

Dear Gwendolyn - thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience of our virtual visiting service. We understand how difficult it is for patients and their families being separated due to COVID restrictions, and it is lovely to read that the virtual visiting has been such a positive experience for you and your dad.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the virtual visiting team, who I know will really appreciate it

Best wishes to you and your dad

Christine Armstrong
