"Excessive Coronavirus swabs"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I was taken to the Emergency Department at Colchester General Hospital and I consented to a Coronavirus swab; it was uncomfortable but not dreadful. Two hours later, two different nurses brought new swab packs and both wanted to do it again. I thought they must be training. I said it was recently done. On the basis that it turned out I was being admitted to another ward I agreed to one, but I was very challenged. The nurse was unsympathetic, scratched   my throat hard, and I also realised this 2nd test wasn’t logical, so soon.

I am sorry that your experience of having a COVID-19 test was not as expected while being treated in A&E, and for the discomfort you felt, for actions of the nurse and that you had endure 2 tests in quick succession. I will make sure that your comments are passed onto the A&E team for their attention. Many thanks
