"Emergency Surgery NHS Forth Valley"

I recently become unwell with abdominal pain and was sent to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for further investigations by my own gp. 

Following an ultrasound, I was diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and had surgery to remove it. 

I arrived at the hospital around lunch time and within a few quick hours, I had blood taken, a scan, pain killers, iv antibiotics and was prepared for surgery. I think this is pretty impressive given the pressures the hospital is currently under due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

I would like to thank everyone involved in my care, from the housekeepers, domestic staff, theatre staff, nurses, doctors and consultants. Special thank yous to the nursing staff of ward B11 and B12. 

During my stay I developed a post- op temperature and as a precaution I had to be tested for Covid. Thankfully it was negative but, whilst waiting on results, I had to be kept in isolation and the staff had to wear full Ppe before coming in to my room. Everyone was very professional and kind. It must be scary for staff knowing that they are potentially being exposed to this virus, but no one treated me any differently and did their best to keep me calm.

I was in hospital for six days and it was difficult as I couldn’t see my children or loved ones. The staff did their best to keep my spirits up and I’m very grateful for that too.
