"Not caring"

This feedback is not about the consultant or the department, it is about the hospital administration. Being exempt from wearing a face covering, I was not allowed to enter the hospital to attend my appointment. The staff at the door kept asking me about proof that I am exempt, despite me advising them that the government guidelines clearly state that one does not need to produce an exemption proof, as well as that establishments should not be asking for one. Eventually I remembered that I had a repeat prescription with me, which clearly showed 3 different steroid inhalers for asthma. But even this was not good enough proof either, as the personnel manning the entrance door were not medical and therefore did not know what these drugs were for!!! After 15 minutes at the door and not being allowed in, I threatened the staff that unless I was let in for my appointment, I would call the police with the reasons being harassment and prejudice; it was only at that point that they let me in. However, the reason I am leaving this review it is not about what happened on the day, but about what has not happened since. The following day I got in touch with the general manager of the hospital and I explained to him why the hospital is breaking government rules. He admitted that he did not know them, so I emailed him the link to the government webpage with all the information on face coverings, exemptions, etc. However it is now 12 days since I emailed him and in my last telephone discussion he admitted that he had not read it yet. I think for the majority of people, if somebody had accused them for harassment and prejudice, the resolution of the accusation would be number one item in their agenda; but not for the Spire Clare Hospital. If you can see your consultant of choice elsewhere, then I would advise you to avoid this hospital. They are only interested in making money.
